This not only means that better segregation of wastes is being carried out at the point of arising, but also reduces the frequency of collection - which reduces vehicle emissions - whilst at the same time increasing the recycling of this waste stream.
These are some of the reasons which have assisted Vellco win the Tyre and Fast Fit Awards Environmental Category, for the third time in five years. Vellco previously won this award in 2004, 2007 and now again in 2009.
John Campbell, Business Development Director for the Vellco Group commented, “I am very proud and pleased to accept this TAFF award from the Tyre Industry on behalf of the entire team at Vellco. This vindicates our continuing insistence on maintaining professional and quality processes with our Customers. It is particularly pleasing to be accepting this award for third time in five years”.
Note:
Vellco currently recycles over 5 million passenger car tyres, over half a million heavy truck tyres, over 2,500 Agricultural & Industrial Tyres, and over 100 Earthmover Tyres annually. None of these tyres are landfilled. 100% are recycled.

Vellco: A European fact finding mission
As one of the largest and most active truck tyre casing specialists in the UK, North Yorkshire based Vellco Tyre Control (VTC) made their international debut at Reifen 2008 to examine the possibilities of expanding their operation into Europe.
The ultimate objective at the show was to promote the company's UK operation to European visitors to see what interest was shown in the services that Vellco provide. At the same time it was a perfect opportunity to meet with existing customers as the event is heavily supported by visitors from the UK.
Managing Director, Chris Fell, Casing Director, Bob Fell and Business Development Director, John Campbell –were all in attendance at the show and a number of interesting and potentially lucrative meetings took place.
John Campbell says," There is no doubt that being part of the show was a very positive move for Vellco and we now have a lot of interesting options to consider as the company examines the viability of entering the European casing market in the future." |

A year of successful consolidation and environment awareness
As yet another trading year concludes Vellco Tyre Control (VTC) can look back on an exciting and successful period which has included a consolidation of many aspects of the company's business activities.
2007 will be remembered for a number of reasons including winning the TAFF Award for best environmental company and the growing success of VTC's tyre collection partners – Midland Tyre Control in the Midlands and Western Tyres in the South West of England.
At the same time the company's fleet of collection vehicles has undergone significant changes in order to take into account new EC regulations on emissions. Also, multi tasking vehicles now operate under the VTC trading banner which collect car, truck, industrial and agricultural tyres along with CAT's and exhausts thus eliminating more vehicles than necessary and enhancing the company's Carbon Footprint.
Vellco has also entered into a new partnership with Reprocessore which includes supplying cement fuel operations and granulation companies with scrap tyres therefore further enhancing the tyre recycling procedure.
John Campbell, Business Development Director at Vellco says, “We are working with a lot of companies in these fields which inspires confidence and demonstrates to our customers that they can completely trust the sound and legal procedures we take and underlines our responsibilities towards the environment.”
Vellco is also a founder member of the Tyre Recovery Association which promotes 'Best Practice' within the industry. Further proof of Vellco's total commitment comes from their ISO 14001 accreditation and VTC look forward to enhancing their position in the casing collection market during 2008.

Vellco Tyre Control: Recognition for excellence!
2007 is only halfway through but already it is proving to be another successful year for Vellco Tyre Control (VTC), one of the UK's largest independent used tyre collection specialists. With European legislation banning the landfill of shredded tyres from July 2006, like most other companies in the market, Vellco has seen a marked increase in the demand for their nationwide tyre & automotive waste collection services. VTC's Business Development Director, John Campbell says, "To cope with this planned increase in business, we invested in our existing facilities and services over the
past year, with probably the most significant project being the further development of the company's customer Call Centre in Weaverthorpe, North Yorkshire"
Under the leadership of Office Manager Mandy Barnett, the call centre has employed additional experienced staff to pro-actively manage Vellco's nationwide customer base which includes hundreds of sites of some of the large national retail networks in both car and truck sectors of the market. There has also been the need to increase the Company's collection vehicle and trailer fleet, and an additional fifteen MAN vehicles acquired during 2006 and early 2007 have together complemented Vellco's comprehensive daily collection fleet at the start of 2007. However, one of the most exciting and satisfying development occurred in May when Vellco were named as Environmental Company of the Year at this year's prestigious TAFF Awards at the NTDA Dinner in Manchester.
News of this accolade was published in last month's edition of Tyre Trade News and John states, "Winning this award means a great deal to literally everyone as well as lowering at Vellco as it is a most welcome reward for all our staff's hard work and ongoing dedication in ensuring Vellco maintains their extremely high level of service to the industry." |
