SIX DECADES OF GROWTH AND SUCCESS:
The Vellco story began in 1950 when Robert Fell formed Vellco Tyres as a modest casing dealership for local tyre retail depots and haulage companies and in the early years the company steadily expanded its services throughout Yorkshire.
Robert was eventually joined in business by his sons Chris and Bob who in due course succeeded their father in the general management of Vellco and up to the 1990's guided the company forward not only in casing collections but also as a respected tyre retreading operation in truck tyres producing the Corsair brand.
At this time Vellco was perhaps one of the 'best kept business secrets' in the UK tyre casing market but in the late 1990's Chris and Bob decided the time was right to take the business towards a more adventurous and widespread course. Changing their name to Vellco Tyre Control (VTC) the company relocated in June 2000 to their present sprawling headquarter site in Weaverthorpe, near Malton in North Yorkshire in order to effectively handle an increasing amount of tyres being collected on a daily basis.
As they say, the rest is history and certainly Vellco has maintained its ongoing growth momentum since then and in recent times has ceased trading as a tyre retreader in order to fully concentrate on the tyre collection and recycling side of its business operation. This important business decision has certainly paid dividends and since 2004 the company has captured a number of valuable and leading business accounts in tyre collection and is now highly regarded as one of the UK's largest and most progressive and respected independent used tyre collection specialists. |
